Instinctive Lean.
The latest addition to the DIABLO ROSSO™ family.
It is the pinnacle of road sport tires with excellent performance in wet conditions.
■The ultimate road sport tire
Excellent grip while braking, thrust boost in extreme lean angles, great traction when exiting corners.
The handlebar response to rider input is lightened, and feedback is smooth when cornering.
Structure and contours (profiles) derived from WSBK.
Multi-compound construction with a high silica content in both front and rear tires.
It performs best in street use, both on wet and dry surfaces.
■Machine-optimized structure
Rear sizes 190/55ZR17 and larger use WSBK-derived 3-strand LYOCELL™ wire.
Stiffer RAYON chords for front and rear sizes up to 190/50ZR17.
Intended effects
Optimized footprint shape at all lean angles provides excellent dynamic response to power unit output and quick handling.
■Increased rubber volume
Reduced ply cord end-count allows for increased rubber volume.
EFFECT
Enhanced damping over rough asphalt reduces road noise and improves overall riding feel.
■Tread pattern design
Reduced void-to-fill ratio in the mid-lean area.
Intended effects
Increased footprint area and optimized stress distribution for better mid-lean grip.
■ Profile
New front profile with a more gradual shoulder curvature.
Intended effects
Creates a wider ground contact surface at full lean.
Advantage
Linear and nimble handling in response to rider input, smoother feedback while cornering, improved riding control.
■Compounds
Cap & base Multi-compound layout
Intended effects
Quick warm-up with enhanced and superior thermal balance.
■FLASH™ Pattern
FLASH™ tread pattern design.
Intended effects
Expels more water as speed increases, ensuring exceptional stability in wet conditions.
■Full silica compound
Full-silica compounds in both front and rear tires provide reliable chemical grip on both dry and wet surfaces.
BENEFIT
The best performance on both wet and dry road surfaces.
■Tailored specifications
In today’s motorcycle scene, large-displacement bikes (over 999cc) commonly set a benchmark of 200 hp, with some superbikes and hyper naked machines exceeding an astonishing 215 hp.
We should also include sporty crossovers that deliver 160 hp while weighing 240kg and standing over 140cm tall, as well as 600cc supersport and naked bikes that weigh nearly the same as the larger displacement bikes but produce less than half the power.
The DIABLO ROSSO™ IV sets the standard in the supersport segment for all these classes of motorcycles.
For this reason, Pirelli has decided to differentiate the product characteristics of the rear tire based on size, in other words the type of motorcycle, in order to fully meet the requirements of each rider.
■Internal structure
Front Tire
DIABLO ROSSO™ IV enhances the stiffness of specific Rayon cords, allowing for a lower end count through larger, more twisted strands. This structure better conforms to the tire’s contours, enabling carcass stiffness to vary with lean angle and supporting the dynamic demands of an exceptional riding experience.
These characteristics provide the rider with a strong sense of contact and solid stability.
Rear tires up to 190/50 ZR17
DIABLO ROSSO™ IV rear tires in sizes up to 190/50ZR 17 feature rayon 2-wire strand construction.
According to the front construction, the chord stiffness has been increased by more than 30% compared to DIABLO ROSSO™ III and the end count has been reduced, allowing more space for the compound to perform.
Grip and ride comfort benefit from it.
190 / 55ZR17 or larger rear tire
Pirelli engineers have developed a racing-like structure derived from their expertise in the Superbike World Championship.
DIABLO ROSSO™ IV features a 3-wire strand lyocell construction that results in a significantly lower deformation rate compared to typical street tires.
The end result of this is excellent traction during full-throttle acceleration, regardless of lean angle.
■ Profile
DIABLO ROSSO™ IV features a race-oriented profile derived from that used in the Superbike World Championship.
The sharp contours of the multi-radius allow for immediate transition from lean to upright and quick change of direction, while the flat shoulders provide high grip and line hold while cornering.
Optimized sidewall stiffness provides sure traction for both upright acceleration and corner exit.
The balanced contours of both front and rear tires enable excellent control feedback and neutral handling characteristics.
■Compounds
The dual compound front tires are combined with a rear Cap & Base layout.
Dual compounds are used for low to mid-displacement motorcycles, while tri-compounds are designed for superbikes and hyper naked machines.
Front Tire
The high silica content and low Tg (glass transition temperature) of the hard layer deliver excellent grip on cold and wet road surfaces.
The soft side layer, which is accessed at lean angles exceeding 35 degrees, delivers superior grip and a remarkable sense of contact.
This combination allows the rider to make trajectory corrections while cornering or delay braking before leaning in.
Dual compound rear tire (up to 190/50ZR17)
The full silica dual compound rear tire provides quick warm-up, significant grip level, and a smooth ride regardless of lean angle even in wet conditions.
In relation to the tire dimensions and therefore the contact patch size, the dual-compound design with minimal compound transitions ensures optimal stress distribution, resulting in a comfortable ride and even wear.
Tri-compound rear tire (190/55ZR17 or larger)
The five-zone layout with endurance racing compounds covers everything from wet grip to full-bank thrust, and handles the superior cornering speeds and tremendous engine power of modern performance motorcycles.
The soft, full-silica mid-rubber strip provides safe and sporty performance in all weather conditions.
■Tread pattern design
As a distinctive sign for Pirelli's sporty products, the DIABLO ROSSO™ IV tread pattern is developed around the FLASH™ icon.
These are two central grooves that provide directional and wear stability.
FLASH™ is responsible for draining water outward from the center to outside the contact patch when upright.
FLASH™ tails of varying lengths are placed around the central design, outlining the mid-lean grooves.
Tails are a key element of tire behavior, providing the right amount of flexibility, efficient water evacuation, and consistent wear.
The tread pattern design of the DIABLO ROSSO™ IV, featuring a smooth mid-lean area, is an evolution of the DIABLO ROSSO™ III and offers increased dry grip at lean angles above 35 degrees, where less water evacuation is needed.
The large slick area on the shoulder ensures excellent grip and line-holding performance while cornering at deep lean angles.
In addition to the feeling of being part of the DIABLO family, the tread pattern layout plays a relevant role in the performance of the DIABLO ROSSO™ IV.
■Benefits and performance
The sportiest tire for road use, regardless of weather conditions.
Excellent grip while braking, thrust boost at deep lean angles, great traction coming out of corners.
Lightens handlebar response to rider input and provides smooth feedback while cornering.
Best performance for road use, on both wet and dry roads.
